For students with some experience in alignment-focused yoga, who have an interest in refining the fundamentals of movement and breath while fine-tuning alignment as they deepen their practice. Students are asked to slow down and be mindful and actually “feel” the asana as they move into it, paying attention to the details and the subtle workings of the inner body; to learn to observe their body, breath and minds while practicing , allowing space for self-inquiry (where does my mind go in a moment of stillness?) and self-correction ( how can I create more freedom in this area of my body?).
A registered yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance, Karen has been teaching yoga since 2005. As an avid traveller and respectful explorer of cultures and traditions, Karen’s initial introduction to yoga was in 1992 in India where she studied under various teachers. Karen says, “In yoga I knew there was a lifetime of exploration and discovery.” Karen owned and operated Yoga Central for 3 years and in that time implemented a 3 year, Yoga Alliance certified, Teacher Training Program. She continues teaching yoga through various community association programs and at SIAST Kelsey Campus. Much like her import business, Karen started teaching yoga to share the things she loves in life. “Yoga has taught me that one must go within in order to explore the magic of the world around.”
