Throughout the year we run a variety of programs. Here are the descriptions of some of the programs we have offered.
Sports Fun allows children to become familiar with skills used while playing various sports. In order to learn as many different skills as we can, we will focus on one sport a week, hopefully including every child’s favourite sport and introducing them to new sports. Parents are expected to be involved, as it helps the children learn and stay on task. They will be asked to have indoor shoes as well as their child. The first five to ten minutes of every class will be warm up/open gym. This gives everyone a chance to warm up doing something they love to do before instruction begins.
Does your child like to bounce and dance around? Perhaps Rhythmic Gymnastics might be a good fit. This recreational program will teach fundamental movement skills and include use of equipment such as balls, ribbons, hoops, and more.
Engineering for Kids – Design the Future
What does the future look like? Join us as we embark on an odyssey to explore the future of transportation, manufacturing and structural design. Let’s take a look at the innovations of today and apply them to create the designs of tomorrow as we explore ways to harness clean energy and house a growing human population. Become an engineer and help Design the Future.
This class will focus on teaching the basic skills involved in traditional Irish dancing. The material learned will include solo dancing and traditional group or “ceili” dancing. Instruction regarding proper technique for both will be provided. Children should bring a water bottle and wear light running shoes.
In this class we will cover the basics in all aspects of musical theatre; singing, dancing and acting, as well as some fun drama games. This will all culminate in a small ‘recital’ for parents at the end of the session run. Please wear comfortable clothing for you to dance in, as well as shoes and a water bottle.
This St. John’s Ambulance course is designed to provide children with the necessary skills and knowledge to be safe and responsible when home alone for short periods of time.
The Red Cross Babysitting Course is designed for youth 11 – 15 years of age who would like to provide care to younger children. Not only will participants learn how to care for younger children including how to recognize, prevent, and deal with emergencies, but they will also learn strategies for self -promotion as a babysitter. 100% participation is required.
Yoga comes naturally to children and many start doing poses at a very young age. Yoga has many great benefits for kids, it helps them regulate emotions, find focus, relaxation, self-awareness and inner fulfillment. It also promotes connectivity and self-esteem in a safe and non-competitive environment. Physically it can help them with their balance, strength, flexibility, coordination and body awareness. Classes include age appropriate yoga poses, breathing and movement games as well as an emphasis on interactive and partner poses for parents and children to do together. Registration is required for each individual participant.
Join us for some fun and fitness with adult drop in badminton. This self -supervised program will give you the opportunity to meet and play against other Silverwood and Lawson Heights badminton players. Please bring your own racquet and shuttlecocks.

Not with Country Heat™ LIVE! It’s the jump-right-in-and-do-it dance workout that’s so much fun you’ll barely notice you’re getting a total-body workout as you work up a sweat. Super Trainer and professionally trained dancer Autumn Calabrese collaborated with Beachbody to create this country dance-inspired workout to merge her love of country music with simple moves that’ll melt off the weight.
We keep you moving – beats jumpin’, bass droppin’, heart pumpin’ dance party workouts that incinerate up to 800 cph (that’s calories-per-hour). We’ll leave you breathless, toned and coming back for more. We keep it coming – fresh body pulsing music and new moves keep you psyched to sweat. Instructors train every year to master the Jazzercise method, which fuses cardio, resistance training, Pilates, yoga, kickboxing and, of course, the demanding forms of dance. You’ll transform. Think you don’t have the moves? So you’re not a dancer. We only have one thing to say to that – who cares? Just come to class and move. You want to transform your body, not become a back-up dancer for Beyonce, right? We go this. Besides, when the beat drops you’ll be surprised what your hips can do. Variety to keep you coming back for more. Variety is the key to staying with a workout and breaking through plateaus and we’ve got that! Our instructors are expertly trained to mix in new moves and new music so classes are always different. Self Defence Workshop
This is a course in applying easy to learn self-defence techniques. It will also include a good discussion on crime avoidance skills, as well as alternative self-defence and life skills. This is not a course in fancy martial arts moves, but rather this is a course about common sense, personal safety and taking personal responsibility so help avoid being a victim of crime. It can be very beneficial if more than one family member or multiple friends attend the seminar (mothers and daughters, husband and wife, father and son, a group of friends) – in fact, we recommend it. In addition, all ages from age 16 and up are welcome. Mixing of ages helps youth understand that self-defense is important. Hearing more mature men and women — including their parents — discuss past experiences assists in getting the message across to the youth in our lives.
Please wear comfortable, workout type clothing. Lunch is not included so bring a bag lunch or pick up a quick lunch at any of the local restaurants.
Instructor: Master David Larsen, 6th Dan Black Belt, Sin Moo Hapkido and one of the master instructors with the Saskatoon Flying Tiger Hapkido Martial Arts Club with over 35 years of martial arts and self defence training.
TRX Group Training
TRX suspension training is a versatile and effective training method for everyone regardless of age, gender or fitness level. Exercises in suspension training build functional strength, improve flexibility, balance and core stability all at the same time! By working with your own body weight your workout focuses on the body as an integrated system. Depending on numbers, other equipment and/or exercises will also be incorporated into the class.
