Starting a community garden

Would you be interested in a community garden in Lawson Heights? Email garden@lawsonheights.ca to volunteer or to ask questions.

We are working with CHEP and the City to start a community garden collective and hopefully launch a new garden next year. We’ll need organizers, gardeners, and sponsors!

An easier way to volunteer!

We’ve heard from people in Lawson Heights that they would like to help out but they aren’t able to commit to a Board of Directors position. No problem, there is a new way to volunteer.

Project teams are a more bite-sized volunteer opportunity where you determine your commitment based on your available time and your interests.

We are currently looking for volunteers on our Programs Team, Events Team, and Rinks Team. Email us or visit our Facebook page to apply.

Pied Piper: theatre for families on July 20

SUM Theatre presents The Pied Piper on Sunday July 20 at 2:00 in Robert Hunter Park West .  This outdoor play is suitable for children and free!  It has received excellent reviews and this Sunday is one of your last chances to see it.  Bring your lawn chairs or picnic blanket, some snacks, and bug spray and enjoy the show!

“There’s something quite nice about walking or biking to a park, setting up a blanket and watching a play with a couple hundred strangers. It instantly becomes a community affair, not an individual experience, in that setting.”
– The StarPhoenix

“Took my sixteen-month-old grandson to the first show which, not surprisingly, was his first play ever. Great to have the opportunity to start him young. Thanks Sum Theatre!”
